Lucky + Lovely

March madness is finally over, thank goodness! I have just popped in to share some images of my Styling workshop last month, taken by the lovely Erin Brauer of Something Pretty Photography. I am so lucky to have wonderful friends, Tish from Elegant Event Sitters graciously hosted us in her sun filled studio, the always smiling Mao of Four Inch Fold provided us with farm tables and mismatched seating. I pulled out some grandma vases and my fav stock and ranunculus for a little floral touch. We snacked on Sonoma chicken salad sandwiches (a whole foods recipe), chips and chocolate chip cookies and sipped white sangria (delish) while we crafted. As you can see we had a wonderful time, crafting, chatting and getting to know each other. I think some future friendships and creative partnerships were formed that day! I do hope to see you at my next workshop coming up in May, just in time for Mother’s Day. Flower me lovely is open for registration now. Use the code “FLOWERMEGUEST” for a $35 ticket. xxooo

spring is finally rearing its pretty head and I have so much to be thankful for and to share. so many wonderful things are happening for lucky + lovely this year. i was talking to a friend and we were talking about telling someone your goals. last year, i told my husband that i wanted to style 1 wedding per month. so far my dreams have come true. i am pretty much booked for each month starting this month. i know that may not seem like a lot to most seasoned decor and floral event designers. i believe in starting small and delivering quality work. i want to cultivate my craft and learn more. i have been devouring everything i can about flowers, floral design and event design trends. i have been collecting vintage props, glassware and vessels like crazy. i know some might say the “vintage” look is over but i can never get enough of grandma vases with single blooms, blue mason jars and apothocary bottles. let spring begin! i have some amazing weddings this year and i can’t wait to share! 2 this month, stay tuned for pictures from them and from my upcoming style workshop! here are a few pieces from my collection. this is my lovely view each morning as i sit at my computer. xo

Happy birthday to me! Today is my birthday and I am so excited about life. I am having an amazing time meeting brides and styling weddings, we have been featured on Style me Pretty, Wedding Chicks, The Bride’s Cafe & Essence.com with Jules & James’ Vintage Vineyard wedding and that is the best gift ever. My handsome little boy is so delightful and makes my heart burst into a million pieces everyday. My sweet style maven 9 year old (gasp!!) is more stunning, smart and joyful everyday. She just gets better with everyday. My darling husband brings me wine, gives me kisses, gives me encouragement and smiles all around even when he is dog tired from teaching 8th grade math all day. Really, what more could a girl want? I have a very fun life! Hectic but fun.

I thought I would share more about myself and what I want, not only for my birthday but in life. I have been thinking alot about goals lately, not in the new years resolution kind of way but in the “I-am-trying-to work-towards-being-a-better-person” kind of way. I know that sharing goals helps you stay accountable so here I go, I am sharing with you my dear readers.

MY GOALS

• to have a closer relationship with God and strengthen my spiritual life

• to have a closer and more meaningful relationship with my brother and my family in general

• to blog more frequently and make this blog a strong resource for inspiration and ideas for lovely soirees

• to share more of my life and be more transparent in my blog:: for this i am creating a new blog called “The Lovely Mama” where I talk about parenting, fashion, recipes, interiors, beauty and being a fabulous mama

• to unplug from the digital world and enjoy nature, air, birds, sunshine and my family more

• to build deeper and more meaningful relationships with my women friends and really serve them as a mentor, confidant and companion

• to strengthen my styling business (wedding, branding & stella & dot) to be a liasion for others to have the life they want to have

I am excited to get those off my chest and out there in the world. What are your goals or wants?

Hi darlings, I know i missed wedding wednesdays but, hold on to your seat for the loveliest little wedding I ever saw. The sweet folks at White Rabbit Studios captured the sunshiney Alabama day and were kind enough to email me about it. Yep, I sure do love a good ole bunting filled wedding with billy ball boutonierres and a sweet cheeked bride with so much love in her eyes for her beau. I think I just fell in love with yellow and grey all over again…

How much do I love this girly glittery glam Valentine’s Day girl’s night in featured on Glitter Guide? Glitter Guide is the go-to blog for how to live a fabulous life with sparkle. This party comes complete with downloads and a sweet video of  how to spend the day of love partying and chatting with your girls. They made sure no girly glam detail was left out. I love the color palette of the hot pink and red (2 of my favorite colors) and I adore the pink sparkly cocktail and the pink popcorn. There is so much girly goodness in this party that I can’t get enough. Too cute! Besides, who better to love you anyway? Girls are always there for each other. I know my girls are there for me. In fact this would make a super cute bridal shower too. xo

I just can’t get enough of these bright, colorful, ethereal poms. They look sweet layered together, stuck on a wall, strung across a tent or made into a huge garland. I love them tiny, small, bright, pastel or metallic. I have made literally thousands of poms for events and I never get tired of how they look. Stuck on how to make paper poms for your event? Learn how at my stylish workshop. I promise, it will be tons of fun!

I was so inspired by this flirty, nautical gal that I just had to share. I love her little asymetrical frock and those sunglasses! I wish I could be on a boat on the Amalfi Coast right now. I pinned this from an amazing photographer’s site, Leslie Mitchell. Y’all should check her out and follow my pin boards while you are at it. Happy Pinning!

I am utterly beside myself with excitement to announce the birth of my darling boy, Henry Lydon. HL made his arrival on December 20th weighing 8 lbs, 10 oz after an eventful, yet short 6 hour labor. I have been waddling around, styling weddings, doing stella & dot trunk shows and designing websites for the last few months waiting patiently for his arrival. I cannot think of a better way to start 2012 than a new life. My husband, David and daughter Zoe are my right hands, helping with holding, swaddling, bathing and changing our sweet Henry. I cannot begin to tell you how blissful I feel. When I look into his eyes, my heart melts and I just want to show him everything and teach him so many things about this wonderful and scary world. Yet, I know that it is he, that will be doing much of the teaching as well. He has already shown me how to rest, be at peace, be still and be thankful for every single blessing-large and small. This year is the year to fulfill dreams. Henry and Zoe have made so many of my dreams come true already. I cannot wait to see all the lovely magic this year holds for me and I hope you remember to dream bigger this year. xxoo

Thank you to Kate-Belle for capturing sweet Henry.

I spent the most amazing afternoon with floral designer Amy Osaba and her talented Art Director Erica, fab photog Heidi and stylist Ginny Branch learning about floral design & crafts. I can honestly say that I have formed some very inspiring friendships with some of the women I met that day and we truly were a sisterhood. As we learned and had our creations photographed, we laughed, played in the sun, talked about everything from relationships, business, kids…women’s stuff. Check out more photos and inspiration from the lovely gals on 100 layer cake. I cannot wait for the next one, Amy!
